This week, MICA Leeuwarden was all about entrepreneurship, courage, and meeting new people. During the annual Big Show Off Event, student entrepreneurs from the NHL Stenden Creative Business program presented their start-ups to an audience of fellow entrepreneurs, experts, and other curious visitors.
These students follow the special entrepreneurship track within their program, and some of them graduated last year with their own businesses — culminating in the Big Show Off Event.

We kicked off with an inspiring story from Marten Hylkema (MHB AV) about his entrepreneurial journey: from farm shed to working for Palo Alto Networks in Silicon Valley. After that, four student entrepreneurs took the stage to pitch their ideas. During the entrepreneurial market, visitors could check out their products and services. Finally, there were 'first date'-style advice sessions in which students sparred 1-on-1 with experienced entrepreneurs and experts — in just 15 minutes, the most valuable insights were shared.
Thanks to all students and to Marten Hylkema, Winley Vellin, Anne van Lieshout, Durk Schaafsma, Joachim de Vries, Nils Slijkerman, Evelyn Andoh, Giscard van Uytrecht, Melle Renema, Maurice Schut, Robert Hoekstra, Gerben-Jelle Kazemier, Ico Balt, Durk-Pieter Noordenbos, Jaap Ikink, and Job Pijlman for their contributions and advice!
