In April 2026, Open Agency Night will return with a new format, a broader target audience, and a single shared theme: Creative Playgrounds. This year, the creative industry of the Northern Netherlands will open its doors in two cities on two evenings: on April 2 in Leeuwarden and on April 23 in Groningen.

During Open Agency Night, visitors get a unique opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at the agencies that shape the creative landscape of Friesland and Groningen. From strategy and concept development to design, campaigns, and digital innovation: you will discover what agencies are working on, how ideas are born, and who the people behind the work are.

A project by MICA

Open Agency Night is an initiative promoted by MICA and organized in collaboration with agencies from the region. The event brings together students, starters, professionals, and partners from the creative sector and showcases the strength and versatility of the creative industry in the North.

From desk to desk

Once a year, creative agencies open their doors to the public. Visitors can move from agency to agency and participate in a program full of short talks, workshops, and live demos. You can walk into places that are normally only accessible to clients and colleagues and hear the stories behind campaigns, brands, and strategies.

Between sessions, there will be opportunities to meet each other, exchange ideas, and experience the atmosphere of the creative sector. With a drink in hand, a slice of pizza, and a joint afterparty, it will be the perfect setting to discover the network of the Northern creative industry.

Theme 2026: Creative Playgrounds

The central theme of this edition is Creative Playgrounds. For one evening, creative agencies are transformed into places where ideas are tested, where experimentation and craftsmanship are on display, and where visitors can experience the creative process up close.

During talks, workshops, and demos, you will discover how campaigns are created, what choices agencies make, how technology and AI play a role in the work, and why some ideas need to be refined before they really work.

Open Agency Night is for anyone who is curious about the creative industry in the North—students, start-ups, creatives, professionals, partners, and anyone else who happens to be interested.
